June 02

Pacific Fleet:
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Ropucha class landing ships RFS Oslyabya and RFS Peresvet conducted several training exercises in the Sea of Japan. The exercise started with loading the vessels for an amphibious assault. Once at sea, the vessels engaged simulated hostile shore positions with their Grad-M 122mm multiple launch rocket systems. The vessels then proceeded to repel a mock air attack with their artillery systems.
The next serial of exercises involved defending against enemy warships. For this exercise, the vessels used their 76mm AK-176 and 57mm AK-725 artillery systems. The hostile vessel was simulated by a large shield being towed by another vessel. The last reported exercise involved mine defense with naval crews firing on a model of floating sea mine. [1] [2]

June 03

Pacific Fleet:
The entire air-assault battalion stationed in Kamchatka was deployed to the Radygino training ground as part of the combat training program. The battalion received their alarm signal and prepared for their march towards the training are. According to a picture published by the Russian Ministry of Defense, this march was conducted with BTR-82A vehicles. During the march, the marines had to take the necessary actions to protect against conventional weapons of mass destructions. It was not specified if this simulated attack focused on chemical or biological weapons.
Once on the training ground, the marines set up a field camp and started organizing their material and technical support units as well as working out camouflage and area defense tasks. [3]

June 07

Caspian Flotilla:
Scouts and naval infantry reconnaissance units started a training camp at an unspecified location in Dagestan in order to improve their skills. This training camp will allow these scouts to train in setting up observation posts, conduct reconnaissance, patrols and ambushes, practice camouflage and covert movement. Each servicemen will also conduct five parachute jump, using the D-10 and Arbalet-2 parachute systems. These jumps will take place during the day and night. 
The exercise will conclude with a tactical exercise which will involve live firing. This exercise will see the scouts raid an area held by a conventionally armed irregular force and carry out reconnaissance and destruction of military facilities and communication systems. [4]



June 08

Black Sea Fleet:
At Sevastopol, the marines loaded 20 pieces of military equipment on board of the Ropucha class landing vessels RFS Caesar Kunikov and RFS Novocherkassk as part of an amphibious training exercise. The vessels then left the Kazachya Bay at Sevastopol and headed towards the Opuk training ground where the landing took place. Rescue tug SB-5 provided assistance during the exercise. [5]

June 10

Caspian Flotilla:
Around 400 marines will take part in parachute training on the training grounds in Dagestan with the use of D-10 and Arbalet-2 parachute systems. The marines will be jumping out of Mi8MTSh transport helicopters provided by the 4th Air Army. The altitudes are reported to be between 600 and 1.300 meter and each marine will also perform a so called long jump from an altitude of 1.500 meters. All jumps will be done in full combat gear. [6]

June 11

Caspian Flotilla:
The reconnaissance unit ambushed a group of simulated conventional enemy in the Adanak training grounds in Dagestan. The first phase involved a covert march a given area and visual observation. During the second phase, after collecting reliable information, an ambush was set upon along the route of the enemy. Special attention was given on the tactically correct place of the ambush as well as the arrangement of the firing positions. [7]

June 16

Pacific Fleet:
A training session was held at Kamchatka for de driver-mechanics of the BTR-82A personnel carriers on how to handle their vehicles afloat. The training camp involved the theoretical and practical aspects with checking the readiness and tightness of the vehicles, operating the vehicles in formation afloat at company level and the necessary tactical actions once the vehicles are ashore. June 23

Pacific Fleet:
Around 300 marines are undergoing paratrooper training during the summer training period. During their training, the marines will study the parachute systems in use by the Naval Infantry, learn how to pack the parachutes and how to fit their equipment and weaponry. Training jumps will take place from an An26 transport aircraft at altitudes between 900 and 1.500 meters. [9]

June 24

Black Sea Fleet:
Driver-mechanics manning the BTR-82A vehicles held a training exercise in driving and controlling their vehicles while afloat. This practical exercise flowed a theoretical course during which the servicemen studied safety requirements, passed swimming standards and completed the emergency escape training on a mock-up model. Practical training involved steering the vehicle while afloat, reversing the vehicle when it reached a dead end in the water and alternate entering and exiting the water on various occasions. [10]

June 25

Northern Fleet:
Ropucha class landing vessel RFS Georgy Pobedonosets was involved in an amphibious training exercise near  'Sredni Morske'. The naval infantry debarked with 16 BTR-82A armored personnel carriers from the LST while it was still at sea and set of to establish a beachhead. The RFS Georgy Pobedonosets provided artillery support with its twin 57mm artillery systems. In addition to shell coastal targets, the vessel also engaged simulated air and sea targets. [11]

June 28

Pacific Fleet
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on a combined Army-Naval Infantry exercise at the Kuriles Islands and Sakhalin. The Naval Infantry played the role of an invading enemy force landing on the coastlines in the rear and flanks of the defending army units. According to the Russian MoD, the army forces repelled the assault. [12]
The Naval Infantry landed was deployed on board of the Ropucha class LSTs RFS Peresvet (hull number 077) and RFS Admiral Nevelskoy (hull number 077). The marines conducted the landing with the modernized BTR-82AM armored personnel carriers.

June 30

Pacific Fleet:
Around 200 marines conducted an amphibious landing exercise at the Malaya Lagernaya Bay in the Kamchatka Region. The landing took place from the Ropucha class landing vessels RFS Peresvet and RFS Admiral Nevelskoy who reportedly beached themselves to allow the marines to disembarked on the coastline itself.
