 July 6

Around 150 military personnel in Kaliningrad have started their course in operating BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles during river crossings. The crews will first undergo training in practical driving safety requirements, pass swimming standards, and conduct emergency exit training exercises before operating their vehicles. The training itself will take place at the Pugachevo and Pravdinsky training grounds. [1]

Unexploded ammunition was defused on various locations inside the Kaliningrad Region. Afterwards, the defused ammunition was brought to several military training grounds for subsequent destruction. The ammunition was describes as 52-mm and 100-mm artillery shells found in the city of Svetly, Zelenograd urban district and an anti-personnel mine found on the Yantar shipyard. [1]

July 7

Tank crews in Kaliningrad conducted a live firing training started a week long exercise which involve over 200 military personnel with over 20 pieces of military equipment, including T-73B3 main battle tanks. The exercise includes live firing with high-explosive and armor piercing ammunition towards several simulated targets. Among the simulated targets are tanks, low-flying helicopters and grenade launcher positions. Firing distances will be between 900 and 2.000 meters. The tank crews will also practice loading ammunition, moving from a traveling to a combat formation, reconnaissance and detection of targets. [1]

July 8

Additional unexploded ammunition was found, defused and destroyed at various locations within the Kaliningrad Region. A 122-mm artillery shell was found during construction work near the Alexander Nevsky Street while a 82-mm mortar round was found at the Mamonovsky Highway. Once defused on location, the ammunition was brought to a military training ground for subsquent destruction. [1]

July 9

An Oscar-II class guided missile submarine passed into the Baltic Sea during the morning hourse. The submarine passed the Great Belt Bridge at 06:40 Zulu and is on its way towards Saint Petersburg for the Naval Day parade which will take place on July 26 [1]

The amphibious landing ship RFS Pyotr Morgunov left the Yantar shipyard in order to continue her shipbuilder's trails. These trails are held before the official state trails which sees a ship admitted to the Russian Navy once it passes. The ship is planned to stay at sea and complete her trails until mid-July. The ship will conducted artillery firings against air and naval targets in the Baltic Sea a, check its radio-technical armament and air defense radar stations with the help of the Baltic Fleet’s aircraft. [1]

Around 300 military personnel from various engineer units, supported by 40 pieces of military and specialized equipment, started a large scale training exercise which will last until the start of August. The engineer units will be trained in various tasks which include the clearing of explosives from urban environments, the construction of barriers, supplying water and electricity to regular combat units, reconnaissance and airborne training. Divers will also be trained in controlling river beds for safe passage of vehicles and troops. A special exercise will be centered on the construction of a pontoon bridge. [1]

July 10

Training in armored warfare continued in the Kaliningrad Region with the crews of T-72B3 tanks engaging simulated targets at an average distance of 1.700 meters. Around 15 tank crews engaged over 60 simulated tanks, recoilless rifles and ant-tank grenade launchers at an unspecified training range. The crews were also trained in their reaction skills and loading capabilities. [1]

July 11

Experienced and new helicopter crews trained over the Baltic Sea with their Ka-27PL helicopters. Their training included searching for a conventional submarine hiding in the Baltic sea. Once detected, the helicopters crews were tasked with tracking the submarine before engaging it with anti-submarine bombs.
The crews operating Ka-27PS rescue helicopters trained in patrolling the Baltic coastline and transport material through the use of external slings. [1]

A second training for the Navy Day Parade took place in the Gulf of Finland with 18 warships participating. [1]

July 12

Over 100 military personnel trained in emergency drills to be used once a tank is stuck under water. The specialized training took place at the military training grounds at Sovtesk in the Kaliningrad Region. Prior to the training, all participants had to complete the swimming standards and pass the safety requirement tests. Training was conducted in a specifically constructed tank model which could be flooded. [1]

On this day, the last conscripts of the class of spring 2019 were released from active duty and transferred to the reserve. Over the past month, around 2.000 military personnel stationed in Kaliningrad were released from active duty. [1]
