Northern Fleet
February 5
Frigate Admiral Kasatonov departed Severomorsk and entered the Barents Sea to take part in combat training exercises [5].

February 6
Two Tu-160 strategic bombers completed a ten-hour flight over the Artic Ocean and Laptev Sea [8].

15 Su-33 carrier-based fighters, Su-30SM multirole fighters and Su-25 UTG training aircraft were involved in air-to-air combat training exercise over the Kola Peninsula [9].

Frigate Admiral Kasatonov conducted artillery firing exercises against costal targets on the Barents Sea [11].

Lada class submarine Kronstadt was reported back at the Admirality shipyard for furhter outfitting, six days after being commissioned [13].

February 7
Frigate Admiral Kasatonov conducted gunnery and air-defense exercises in the Barents Sea [11].

Nanuchka class corvette Rassvet entered the Barents Sea to conduct combat exercises as part of the K-2 training course of the crew [12].

February 8
Grisha class corvette Brest of the Kola Peninsula held gunnery and air-defense exercises as part of the surface warfare course. Training took place in the Barents Sea [17].

February 9
Frigate Admiral Kasatonov completed a search and rescue training exercise together with the tugboat Sekstan [23].

February 10
Ropucha class landing vessel Alexander Otrakovsky entered the Barents Sea for combat training. The vessel was escorted by a minesweeper of the Kola Flotilla during her transit [20].

Baltic Fleet
February 5
Around 10 Ka-27 and Ka-27PS helicopters of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation are involved in training flights over the Baltic Sea. The training focuses on detecting hostile surface vessels and submarines [1].

Bastion missile systems conducted simulated launches against simulated targets in the Gulf of Finland as part of a training exercise [2].

Su-24 aircraft of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation struck ground targets as part of a training exercise at Kaliningrad [3].

February 6
Engineering troops at Kaliningrad trained in repairing damaged airfields to be used by the aircraft of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation regiment [7].

February 8
Steregushchy class corvette Stoiky held gunnery exercises in the Baltic Sea [15].

Ka-27 and Ka-27PL helicopters held tactical flights to train search & rescue operations and anti-submarine searches [16].

February 9
Minehunter Alexander Obukhov held a mine-countermeasure exercise as part of the K-2 training course for the crew. The exercise involved passing a training minefield made up of anchored and bottom mines. After completion, the minehunter held a series of gunnery and air defense drills [22].

Steregushchy class corvette Soobrazitelny held an anti-submarine exercise in the Baltic Sea. The corvette launched torpedo's against the simulated enemy submarine [24].

Black Sea Fleet
February 05
The Black Sea Fleet is holding training exercises to train naval personnel in the use of MANPADS [4].

Pacific Fleet
February 5
Udaloy class destroyer Admiral Tributs departed Vladivostok to take part in an anti-submarine exercise in the Sea of Japan. A diesel-electric submarine will play the part of enemy vessel [6].

February 6
A pair of Tu-142MZ long-range anti-submarine aircraft took of from Kamchatka for a six hour ling flight over the Sea of Okhotsk. During the flights, the Tu-142MZ crews searched for simulated enemy submarines in the Sea of Okhotsk [10].

February 7
Oscar II class submarine Irkutsk has reportedly been relaunched somewhere in 2023 at the Zvezda shipyard at Bolshoy Kamen as part of its modernization program to be equipped with Zircon hypersonic missiles [14].

February 8
Steregushchy class corvette Aldar Tsydenzhapov held combat exercises as part of the K-2 training course. The corvette held damage control exercises and gunnery exercises [18].

February 9
Grisha class corvette Metel and Improved Kilo class submarine Volkov held an anti-submarine training exercise in the Sea of Japan. The corvette was task with engaging the submarine while the Volkov was tasked with evading the patrol and attacks [19].

February 10
Two Tu-95M strategic bombers conducted a training flight over the Bering Strait [21].

Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Oct-21 Weekly Brief The task force continues to operate at sea with its maximum capacity it can deploy. Both corvettes are most likely covering the US naval deployments of the Gerald R. Ford carrier task force with fleet oiler Yelnya regularly sailing out of Tartus to refuel the vessels at sea. Daily Events October 14 Improved Kilo class submarine Krasnodar and the rescue tug Sergey Balk were visually observed passing through the Strait of Gibraltar and exiting the Mediterranean [ 1 ]. October 17 Satellite imagery of the port of Tartus only showed the fleet oiler Yelnya present inside the harbor [ 2 ]. October 18 A radio signal belonging to the fleet oiler Yelnya was intercepted, placing the vessel in a position of 34.9° North, 35,8° East; just outside the port of Tartus [ 3 ].

Russian forces in the Mediterranean - Wk41/2023

Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Oct-14 Weekly Brief The Russian task force has been responding to the new situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the arrival of a US Navy carrier task force in the region. AGI vessel Kildin is keeping track of the carrier movements. At the same time, both corvettes departed Tartus, support by the Amur class repair vessel PM-82. Both corvettes most likely form a counterbalance to the US Navy presence and project power is support of local allies though the projected combat power falls far short of the deployed US maritime power in this region. Improved Kilo class submarine Krasnodar has been steadily heading towards the Strait of Gibraltar, escorted by rescue tug Sergey Balk. Both vessels will most likely transit on October 14th during the night to prevent visual observation.
