Russian Navy Fleet deployments Week 05-2024

Baltic Fleet
January 29
Amur class repair vessel PM-82 arrived at its homeport of Baltiysk during the morning completing a deployment in the Mediterranean [1].
It's escort, the rescue tug Sergey Balk is heading towards Kronstadt and was observed northeast of Gotland during the afternoon [2].

January 30
Steregushchy class corvette Boiky was at sea performing helicopter operations with around 20 deck landings taking place while the corvette was drifting and underway, both during the day as during the night [4].

Mi-24 'Hind' attack helicopters were involved in a combat exercise attacking targets in the Baltic Sea. The helicopters engaged targets simulating hostile small-sized speedboats [5].

February 1
Several vessels of the Baltic Fleet held an air defense exercise where the fleet repelled a simulated drone attack [10].

February 2
Divers and the crew of the destroyer Nastoychivyy held a ship-repair exercise where divers were send to plug a hole in the hull. Later during the day, the divers also performed an inspection of the hull as well as cleaning operations on the screws [13].

Northern Fleet
January 31
Project 677 Lada-class submarine Krondstadt was accepted in the Russian Navy during a ceremony. The submarine will be part of the Northern Fleet and stationed at the Kola Peninsula [6].


Black Sea Fleet
January 31
Ukrainian surface drones attacked and sank the Tarantul class missile corvette Ivanovets at Lake Donuzlav [9].

Pacific Fleet
January 29
Udaloy class frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov held an anti-submarine exercise in the South China Sea. The  frigate worked together with its Ka-27 helicopter to detect and engage the simulated submarine with torpedo's and depth charges [3].

February 2
Submarine crews stationed at Kamchatka practiced escaping from a submarine through the torpedo tubes. The exercise took place in a facility on land [12].

January 31
Two MiG-31BM interceptor aircraft of Pacific Fleet Naval Aviation held training flights in the Kamchatka Region both during the day as during the night [7].

Steregushchy class corvette Rezky and an unidentified submarine of the Pacific Fleet held an anti-submarine exercise in the Sea of Okhotsk. Both the corvette as the submarine fired torpedo's against a target shield during this exercise [8].

February 1
Ka-29 helicopters of the naval aviation regiment assigned to the Pacific Fleet are involved in exercises with the 40th Naval Infantry Brigade at Kamchatka. The helicopters provided fire support for the marines during an exercise at the Radygino training grounds [11].

Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Oct-21 Weekly Brief The task force continues to operate at sea with its maximum capacity it can deploy. Both corvettes are most likely covering the US naval deployments of the Gerald R. Ford carrier task force with fleet oiler Yelnya regularly sailing out of Tartus to refuel the vessels at sea. Daily Events October 14 Improved Kilo class submarine Krasnodar and the rescue tug Sergey Balk were visually observed passing through the Strait of Gibraltar and exiting the Mediterranean [ 1 ]. October 17 Satellite imagery of the port of Tartus only showed the fleet oiler Yelnya present inside the harbor [ 2 ]. October 18 A radio signal belonging to the fleet oiler Yelnya was intercepted, placing the vessel in a position of 34.9° North, 35,8° East; just outside the port of Tartus [ 3 ].

Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Oct-14 Weekly Brief The Russian task force has been responding to the new situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the arrival of a US Navy carrier task force in the region. AGI vessel Kildin is keeping track of the carrier movements. At the same time, both corvettes departed Tartus, support by the Amur class repair vessel PM-82. Both corvettes most likely form a counterbalance to the US Navy presence and project power is support of local allies though the projected combat power falls far short of the deployed US maritime power in this region. Improved Kilo class submarine Krasnodar has been steadily heading towards the Strait of Gibraltar, escorted by rescue tug Sergey Balk. Both vessels will most likely transit on October 14th during the night to prevent visual observation.
