February 1

Northern Fleet
Marines of the 61st Naval Infantry Brigade held a practical training exercise near the village of Sputnik. Marines trained in firing PKM machine guns from various positions against simulated targets. Experiences gained from the war in Ukraine were reportedly incorporated in the training. The marines also trained in throwing grenades.
A detachment of engineers was also active on the training ground. These units in laying and removing land mines [1].

February 2

Baltic Fleet
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the 336th Naval Infantry Brigade will perform 2.500 parachute jumps as part of the 2023 training program [2].

February 3

Pacific Fleet
The crews of T-80 main battle tanks and BMP-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicles are being trained at the Bamburovo training ground. The training is held under the supervision of experienced instructors and include combat experience gained from the war in Ukraine. The terrain is set up to resemble similar areas inside the area of operations in Ukraine. Training is held both during the day and night [3].

Northern Fleet
Marines continue to train near the village of Sputnik with the training shifting from machine gun firing to mortar and grenade support. Marines reportedly trained with RPG-7 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, AGS-17 automatic grenade launchers as well as mortars. Drones were used to spot targets for the mortar crews [4].

February 4

Pacific Fleet
Videos were released from alleged recent operations by the 155th NI Brigade near the Ukrainian town of Vulhedar. The videos showed a company sized unit forming up in nearby woods. A second video showed a platoon in three BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles crossing an open field while deploying smoke to hide their movements from Ukrainian forces [5].

February 5

Caspian Flotilla
Marines of the 177th NI Regiment were deployed on the Adanak training area for small arms training. The marines trained firing AK-74s from several positions (standing, kneeling and lying down) as well as how to fire RPG-7s [6].

February 8

Pacific Fleet
Marines of the 40th NI Brigade were deployed on the Radygino training grounds in Kamchatka. The marines trained in using the RPG-7 and AGS-17 grenade launchers against moving and stationary targets. Deploying to and camouflaging firing positions were trained as well. A company sized element of 100 marines were deployed [7].

February 10

Northern Fleet
Marines in the air assault company of the 61st NI Brigade have started their parachute training. Training is currently done on simulators to teach the marines the basics. Once completed, the marines will switch to actual parachute jumps. The parachute systems involved in the training are reported to be the D-9, D-10 and the Arbalet 2 [8].

February 13

Pacific Fleet
A company sized unit of 100 marines, supported by 20 pieces of military equipment, conducted an amphibious landing as part of a training exercise. The unit, part of the 40th NI Brigade, embarked with BTR-82A's and BMP-3s in the Ropucha class landing vessel Admiral Nevelskoy. Landing took place at the ​​Avacha Bay in Kamchatka [9].

February 16

Baltic Fleet
The Serna and Dugong class landing crafts "Midshipman Lermontov", D-225 and D-67  are involved in naval infantry training programs. The vessels are preparing to participate in amphibious training by setting up daily and combat routines. In a next phase, the vessels will be ready to take part in embarkation exercises [10].

February 21

Baltic Fleet
Tactical exercises are being held in the platoon level with the goal of preparing the troops for combat operations. The troops are training on how to march to combat zones and set up defensive actions and defend against enemy amphibious operations. Around 500 marines were involved in the exercise [11].
