Russian forces in the Mediterranean - Wk28/2022

Task Force Composition

As reported by OSINT at the morning of Jul 16

Weekly Brief

Little naval movement remains reported through the means of OSINT. Over the past weeks it has become obvious that more and more surface combatants are docking in Tartus for resupply before heading back to their assigned areas of operations. This could suggest that Russia might be struggling to maintain and supply its task forces in the Eastern Mediterranean, relying more and more at the port facilities offered by Syria.

Daily Events

July 12
Several Russian warships were observed moored inside the Syrian port of Tartus at 08:56. Satellite imagery revealed an improved Kilo class submarine, an Udaloy class destroyer, logistical support vessel Vice-Admiral Paromov, Amur class repair vessel PM-82 and fleet oiler Boris Butoma [1].
