Daily Events

January 10
Submarines RFS Stary Oshkol and RFS Velikey Novgorod were seen on commercial satellite imagery. The vessels were moored in the naval base at Novorossiysk [1].

January 12
Aleksandrit class minehunter RFS Georgy Kurbatov arrived at the naval base of Sevastopol, completing her journey to join the Black Sea Fleet [2].

Buyan-M class corvette RFS Orekhovo-Zuevo is conducting the K-1 crew training course. The course involves preparing the crew for daily life on board, preparing the vessel for deployment at sea and damage control. The crew also held an air defense exercise with the vessel moored in the naval base [3].

Naval aviation assets trained in detecting and engaging a hostile submarine in the Black Sea. The reported air assets involved Be-12 and An-26 aircraft as well as Ka-27PL and Mi-8 helicopters [4]. It is unreported if a Black Sea Fleet submarine was involved playing the role of the enemy.

January 13
Several commanders and control officers at the Novorossiysk naval base have been summoned to a mobilization gathering under the command of Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov. The topic of the gathering is on the study and understanding of modern methods and techniques in solving combat training tasks. The officers will each take part in demonstration exercises to be held on the Zhelezny Rog training ground in the Krasnodar Territory where they will work out the actions in deploying Bal and Bastion coastal missile defense systems [5].

The Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced the arrival of logistic support vessel Vsevolod Bobrov at the Novorossiysk naval base [6].

January 14
Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems assigned to the Novorossiysk naval base are deployed at the Opuk training ground in the Crimea. The crews will conduct electronic launches against simulated and surface targets as part of a tactical exercise [7]. The unit is identified as the 11th Coastal Missile Brigade [8].

Karakurt class corvette RFS Tsiklon has completed her factory sea trails. The vessels systems will now undergo an audit before it will start the state trails. The start of the state trails will commence during week 03 [9].

January 15
Grisha class anti-submarine corvette RFS Kasimov departed the port of Novorossiysk and held and air defense and gunnery exercise during adverse weather conditions. The corvette first searched and tracked air targets, followed by a gunnery exercise against surface and air targets [10].
