A training exercise for tank-crews was reported near the town of Gusev in the Kaliningrad Region. Over 100 servicemen and 30 T-72B3 tanks were involved in the exercise which was focused on driving test firing. Offensive actions and defensive actions while on the move. [1]

December 23

Amphibious landing vessel RFS Pyotr Morgunov has been officially accepted into the Russian Navy. the ceremony took place at Kaliningrad and was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov. The commanding the new vessel is Captain Vyacheslav Solovyov.
The RFS Pyotr Morgunov is an advanced version of the Ivan Gren class landing vessels. [2] [3]



Steregushchy class corvette RFS Stoiky, escorted by the fleet oiler RFS Kola and rescue tug Yakov Grebelsky, transited the English Channel. The surface action group is headed towards the Mediterranean. RFS Stoiky is equipped with a Ka-27 helicopter. during her transit, the helicopter crew will train several combat tasks such as detecting a simulated hostile submarine, detect surface targets and train search and rescue operations. December 25
Ten Su-27 fighter aircraft were involved in an air defense exercise over the territory of Kaliningrad. The fighters were part of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation and were tasked to intercept hostile aircraft which had entered Russian airspace. The exercise involved paired take offs as well as electronic launches of the weapon systems. [5]

December 27
Around 100 servicemen and 20 pieces of military equipment were involved in an anti-terrorism exercise in Kaliningrad. The training exercise involved a terrorist group located in a wooded area ready to attack a regional center. Counter-terrorism units were deployed to the area which when then sealed off to prevent the enemy from escaping. The terrorist group was defeated in a fire fight when they tried to break out of the encirclement. [6]
