Weekly Overview
Wednesday June 18
Two Il-38 maritime patrol aircraft were deployed over the Barents Sea during an anti-submarine training exercise. The aircraft were tasked to search for simulated enemy submarines, a role played by several submarines of the Northern Fleet link.
Friday June 20
An unidentified Udaloy class destroyer of the Northern Fleet entered the Baltic Sea link.
The vessel was later reported as the Vice-Admiral Kulakov link.
Baltic Fleet
Monday June 16
A combat exercise was held involving the Buyan-M class corvettes Naro-Fominsk, Zeleny Dol and Serpukhov. All three vessels held electronic/simulated launches against coastal targets of a simulated enemy. At the same time, Bastion anti-ship missile systems were deployed and simulated launches against seaborn targets before relocation to new firing positions link.
Parachim class anti-submarine corvettes Aleksin and Kabardino-Balkaria held tactical exercises at the Baltic Fleet training grounds. The exercises involved detecting and destroying a simulated enemy submarine followed by naval gunfire against a enemy surface warship which was simulated by a floating sea shield link.
Ropucha class landing vessel Alexander Shabalin was deployed in a tactical exercise with the vessel firing against simulated floating mines, UAVs, and USVs link.
5 Su-24 tactical bombers of the naval aviation regiment practices striking simulated surface warships in the Baltic Sea. During the exercise, the bombers also practiced refueling from an Il-78 tanker aircraft link.
Wednesday June 18
Divers of the Baltic Fleet conducted an underwater inspection in the naval base at Kaliningrad. The divers searched vessels for possible explosives as well as the ships hull for corrosion and the state of the ships rudders link.
Saturday June 21
An unidentified Kilo class submarine, escorted by the rescue tug Yakov Grebelsky, departed the Baltic Sea link.
Sunday June 22
The Baltic Fleet held a submarine rescue operation near Kaliningrad with the use of the Deep-sea rescue submarine AS-26 with the Improved Kilo class submarine Kronstadt playing the role of submarine in distress. The AS-26 was deployed to depths of 60 meters to search for the Kronstadt which was located on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The AS-26 then docked with the Kronstadt and evacuated crew members link.
Pacific Fleet
Monday June 16
Russian Media reports about an exercise taking place in the Pacific Fleet lasting until June 30th. Several vessels were shown to leave the port of Vladivostok. These vessels were identified as Udaloy Class destroyers Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Tributs, Steregushchy class corvettes Sovershenny and Gromky, Tarantul class missile boat R-298, an unidentified Ropucha class landing ship, and the hospital vessel Irtush link link.
Udaloy Class destroyers Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Tributs passed through the Soja Strait heading east link.
Tuesday June 17
Steregushchy class corvettes Rezkiy and Aldar Tsydenzhapov, together with fleet oiler Pechenga, arrived at Vladivostok following a long range out of area deployment in the Indo-Pacific Region link.
Thursday June 19
Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems at Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands were deployed as part of an ongoing naval exercise in the Pacific Fleet. The exercise involved deployment to the launch sites, protect against ground an UAV attacks and simulate launches against a enemy naval landing force link.
Friday June 20
Udaloy class destroyers Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Tributs held naval gunnery exercises in the Pacific Ocean. The vessels held an anti-submarine exercise with the help of their Ka-27PS helicopters followed by naval gunfire exercises with AK-100, AK-190 and AK-630 artillery systems link.
Stereguschy class corvettes Gromkiy and Sovershennyy, supported with naval aviation aircraft, held anti-submarine exercises in the Sea of Okhotsk. Both vessels also trained in defending against UAV attacks.
Tu-142M3 maritime patrol aircraft practices relocating to alternative airfields in the Magadan Region, Kamchatka and Primorsky Krai in response to a simulated attack against their main airbases. At least two aircraft took part in this exercises, identified as RED-59 and RED-65.
Mediterranean
Monday June 16
Steregushchy class corvette Boiky reportedly entered the Mediterranean via the Strait of Gibraltar link.
Out of Area Deployments
Wednesday June 18
Ropucha class landing vessel Alexander Shabalin was visually observed departing the Baltic Sea. The vessel might be transporting weapons link.
Friday June 20
Frigate Admiral Grigorovich was reported in the North Sea where it passed through the Dutch EEZ. The vessel was escorted by the Royal Netherlands Navy frigate Zr.Ms. Van Amstel link.
Saturday June 21
An unidentified Kilo class submarine, escorted by the rescue tug Yakov Grebelsky, departed the Baltic Sea link.
Gorshkov class frigate Admiral Kasatanov departed the Baltic Sea, most likely returning back to the Northern Fleet link.
Sunday June 22
Frigate Admiral Grigorovich was visually observed entering the Baltic Sea link.
