Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Jul 30 Weekly Brief Naval activity remains limited to one Surface Action Group being deployed at sea. The Varyag SAG maintains a close watch on the US carrier group centered on the Harry S Truman as it moves through the Ionian Sea. One destroyer, Admiral Tributs, is reported in the Adriatic Sea. The passage of tankers Sig and Yaz through the Bosporus could indicated another supply run to Tartus and provide the task force of fuel to continue its operations. Daily Events July 26 The Pacific Fleet Surface Action Group is reported in the Central Mediterranean in response to the deployment of the US Navy aircraft carrier Harry Truman in this region. Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Jul 23 Weekly Brief The first two units of the task force have left the Mediterranean since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Logistic support vessel Vice-Admiral Paromov and intelligence collection vessel Kidlin departed the Mediterranean via the Strait of Gibraltar. The other intelligence collection vessel, Vasiliy Tatishchev, was last reported in the Balearic Sea where it keeps track on the US carrier strike group centered on the Harry Truman. Unverified reports claim that the two surface action groups have left their area of operations near Crete and are now operating deeper in the Eastern Mediterranean. The task force centered on the Pacific Fleet is reported south of Cyprus conducting exercises while the one centered on the Northern Fleet operates between Syria and Cyprus. Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Jul 16 Weekly Brief Little naval movement remains reported through the means of OSINT. Over the past weeks it has become obvious that more and more surface combatants are docking in Tartus for resupply before heading back to their assigned areas of operations. This could suggest that Russia might be struggling to maintain and supply its task forces in the Eastern Mediterranean, relying more and more at the port facilities offered by Syria. Daily Events July 12 Several Russian warships were observed moored inside the Syrian port of Tartus at 08:56. Satellite imagery revealed an improved Kilo class submarine, an Udaloy class destroyer, logistical support vessel Vice-Admiral Paromov, Amur class repair vessel PM-82 and fleet oiler Boris Butoma [ 1 ].

Task Force Composition As reported by OSINT at the morning of Jul 09 Weekly Brief Little naval activity was reported by OSINT sources. No deviations from regular patterns were observed an reported, suggesting that most Russian vessels remain at sea in their regular patrol areas. Individual vessels are heading back and forth between these areas and their supply hub at Tartus, Syria.   Daily Events July 4 Gorshkov class frigate RFS Admiral Kasatonov departed the port of Tartus, Syria. The vessel was observed on satellite imagery heading on a southwestern course [ 1 ]. July 5 Fleet oiler Vyazma was lasted detected by her AIS signal. The vessel heading towards Tartus with a speed of 5.1 knots.

Baltic Fleet Deployments - Wk 27/2022

  Daily Events July 04 Helicopter crews of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation are conduction several exercises within the Kaliningrad Region with around 20 helicopter crews being involved. Ka-27 and Ka-27PS are reported to train in detecting and engaging hostile warships in the Baltic Sea. Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack helicopters will focus on providing fire support by engaging simulated command posts, enemy vehicles and troop concentrations and provide reconnaissance for friendly troops. Around 50 sorties are planned to take place, both during the day and night [ 1 ]. July 05 A company sized unit of the 336th Naval Infantry Brigade of the Baltic Fleet practiced embarkation and debarkation drills on board of the Zubr class hovercraft Mordovia. The marines also provided air defense during this exercise by deploying teams armed with Igla and Strela man-portable air defense systems [ 2 ].
